Unarguably one of the best children's book I have ever read in fourteen years of my life - and probably even more, considering most books of the kind share resemblances with The Girl in the Mirror (no offense). The storyline was classical, a bit typical if I'm being honest, although the way it was moved (and, of course, the straight yet extremely intriguing writing style that pushed it forward) hooked my eyes until the very last page. One extraordinary thing to note about Lackbeard is the richness of the character: not how many there are, but how beautifully they are built, developed and challenged through ups and downs, then realize something bubbling inside them the whole time, a hunger for adventure. They are kids and adults, some childish, some stubborn, some annoying at first, and all well-written. Personal rating: 4/5.
