Poem - Hansel and Gratel by Anshika Gupta Grade 1 Bombay Scottish School Powai

Anshika is a 6-year-old girl from Bombay Scottish School, Powai Mumbai who would likely be a curious and enthusiastic learner, full of energy and wonder. With a strong foundation in a school known for its emphasis on academics and holistic development, she demonstrates qualities like Curiosity, Enthusiasm for Learning, Creativity, Friendly and sociable and enjoys making new friends and working in groups, showing empathy and care towards her peers. In her uniform, she would have a cheerful and confident demeanor, embodying the values and spirit of her school. The title of the poem is "Hansel and Gretel's Sweet Escape with a twist." In a little village by a dark, dark wood, Lived Hansel and Gretel, as good kids should. Their stepmother frowned, their father sighed, "We have too little food," the stepmother cried. One night, the stepmother hatched a plan, "We'll leave them in the forest," she began. Hansel and Gretel heard the scheme, And Hansel thought up a clever dream. He gathered white pebbles, shiny and bright, And left them behind in the moonlight. Then followed the trail back to their home, Their father was happy, no more to roam. But the stepmother’s heart was cold as ice, She tried once more, not thinking twice. This time, Hansel and Gretel lost their way, As birds ate the crumbs, that they had planned to lay. Lost in the forest, tired and weak, They found a house, unique and chic. Made of candy, cookies, and cake, A dream come true, for them to take. But inside lived a witch, with a wicked plan, She caged poor Hansel, and laughed, "I’ll eat you as much as I can!" Gretel was clever, with a heart so bold, She tricked the witch, quick and cold. "Check the oven, is it hot enough?" The witch leaned in, and in a puff, Gretel pushed her in, and closed the door, The witch was gone, forevermore. But here’s the twist, in this sweet tale, It’s not just about the witch’s fail. Hansel and Gretel found a key, To a treasure chest, filled with glee. Gold and jewels, bright and grand, They took it home, hand in hand. Back to their father, with riches so bright, No more hunger, no more fright. They lived in cheer, With love and kindness, year after year. So Hansel and Gretel, brave and smart, Show that courage comes from the heart. And in this poem, with a happy end, It’s family and love that truly mend.
